Foodies Unite, Flemings Orlando Rocks

‘Pulse’ was invited to dinner (along with other media) at Flemings Sand Lake in Orlando last night. We didn’t really have any expectations, but we were definitely excited to check it out. First let me say, we must be living under a rock, because Flemings is located in the Dellagio Town Center, a beautiful Tuscan-themed ‘plaza’ with a lovely assortment of shops and restaurants. If you’re familiar with SW Orlando, it sits just past Dr. Phillips Blvd. on the right-hand side.

Now, on to good stuff … HUGE kudos to Flemings’ staff for their personal introductions and interest in our blog. We felt really spoiled and pampered from the moment we sat down. Speaking of that … my Stoli Bombshell was … wait for it … the bomb!

Stoli Bombshell! De-lish!!!

You know what else was the bomb (da bomb?)? Our FIVE-course meal with wine pairings! They kicked off the food parade with Lump Crab Louis Wraps (think Lettuce Wraps meets Lump Crab Meat), then onto the Roasted Mushroom Ravioli with porcini butter sauce (butter sauce? count me in!), next we moved on to sample two of the restaurant’s entrees, the Tillamook Bay Petrale Sole and their signature Peppercorn Steak.

If that wasn’t enough, we also stuffed our faces with two of their desserts: Crème Brûlée and Chocolate Lava Cake. Needless to say, they were both unbelievably yummy.

Not only did Flemings wow us with their food, but each item was delivered to the table and explained in detail by Sous Chef, Alec Cheak (rhymes with steak … coincidence?). It was a nice touch in order to see actual portion sizes (generous!).

I really can’t say enough about the kindness of Operating Partner Mark Cline and his staff for being such gracious hosts. Mega bonus points for the goody basket and handwritten note (!).

Hey, look! That's us in the picture! They gave it to us before we left!

Other things I learned from our trip to Flemings:

  • They have a year-round Prix Fixe menu that changes with the seasons.
  • 5 for $6 ’til 7 offers 5 cocktails, 5 wines by the glass and 5 appetizers. $6 each, served at the bar until 7 PM.
  • They have Private Dining options for up to 80 people!

For more photos from last night, check out our photostream on Flickr or head on over to Flemings and see for yourself!

**Dinner was provided to Pulse of Central Florida at no charge, but our views are our own.**

Hey guys, love the blog. I’ve found it infinitely useful for finding stuff to do around Orlando. I recommend it to my friends and co-workers, and read it daily. Unfortunately this post really caused me some concern. It seems like it would be extremely difficult to provide a completely unbiased opinion given the unique and special dining experience provided to you for free. I realize you adhered to standard blogging practice of stating that you were provided the experience free, but your experience there isn’t fully representative of the treatment everyone else would receive there. For me personally, that’s what I’m looking for in a review of a restaurant.

@Badi – Really appreciate the feedback and I agree that given the special circumstances of this dining experience, many would assume that our views would be skewed.

However, one of the most important aspects of what we do here at Pulse is provide honest, transparent, real feedback on what we experience around Central Florida … whether or not it is provided for us or we do it on our own dime–which incidentally is what occurs 99.9% of the time.

We would be remiss to exclude Flemings from a review post just because they graciously provided the meal. Additionally, I’m happy to say that I also independently visited the Winter Park location and could rave about that experience as well.

Again, thanks for reading and for the feedback.

I’m hungry now… looks like you had an awesome time! There’s also a Flemings in Winter Park, almost across the street from Winter Park Village, corner of 17-92 and Lee Rd.

I have experienced this delight many times. I am not a food critic; just a food lover…especially fine dining. Every meal served at this restaurant is consistent. It’s like every guest is a movie star or something.
